McIlvena Bay

Overview

McIlvenna Bay is located in east-central Saskatchewan, Canada, and is being built by G Mining as a next-generation copper-zinc operation in one of Canada’s most prolific volcanogenic massive sulphide mining districts. The project is wholly owned by Foran Mining Corporation and has been designated by the Government of Canada as a nation-building project, reflecting its strategic importance to domestic critical minerals supply and economic infrastructure. McIlvenna Bay is advancing rapidly, with overall construction now entering an advanced stage—approximately 79% complete as of November 2025—and key pre-commissioning activities underway on schedule for mid-2026 commercial production. 

McIlvenna Bay is designed around a 4,900 tonnes per day (tpd) mill and associated underground infrastructure, targeting processing of the region’s high-grade copper-zinc volcanogenic massive sulphide (“VHMS”) ore. The McIlvenna Bay Deposit hosts a significant mineral resource, with an indicated resource of approximately 38.6 million tonnes at ~2.02% copper equivalent and an additional inferred resource of ~4.5 million tonnes. Preliminary studies have outlined a robust operation with an expected mine life of around 18 years based on defined reserves and production scenarios. 

Exploration activity continues to add value beyond the base case, with drilling underway on the Tesla Zone—a newly identified extension of mineralization that may materially expand the project’s footprint and future resource base. 

In addition, nearby regional targets such as the Hanson Lake trend and the Bigstone Deposit could support further feed to the mill or additional satellite operations, positioning McIlvenna Bay as the cornerstone of a long-term mining camp in the region with significant expansion potential.
