Highland Valley Copper

Overview

Highland Valley Copper (HVC) is located in British Columbia, Canada. Wholly-owned and operated by Teck Resources, HVC has been in production since 1962 and produces both copper and molybdenum concentrates.

Copper production in 2024 is anticipated to be between 97,000-105,000 tonnes, with an expected increase to 140,000-160,000 tonnes per year in 2025.

Teck continues to evaluate the Highland Valley Mine Life Extension, which would extend the mine life to at least 2040 through an extension of the existing site infrastructure. The Mine Life Extension allows for the continuation of social and economic benefits, while also helping to meet the growing demand for copper driven by the transition to a low-carbon future. The Mine Life Extension is currently undergoing an environmental assessment under the BC Environmental Assessment Act. Expecting to complete engineering and project execution planning in Q2 2025.
